Reasons for the Increase
In a letter sent to shareholders, Netflix explained that this adjustment will allow the company to continue investing in content production. “As we continue to invest in programming and offer more value to our members, sometimes we ask a little more so that we can reinvest and further improve Netflix,” they highlighted.

Impressive Financial Results
The price increase announcement coincides with the release of positive financial results for Netflix for the fourth quarter of 2024. The platform added 18.9 million new subscribers in the period, exceeding expectations of 9.6 million. Currently, Netflix has about 302 million paid subscribers worldwide.
In addition, the company reported revenue of $10.25 billion, surpassing estimates of $10.11 billion, and earnings per share of $4.28, slightly above expectations of $4.20. Netflix also announced a $15 billion share buyback program.
